BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: SEASON THREE SOUNDTRACK (October 8, 2007- Burbank, CA) - The soundtrack from the standout third season of the SciFi Channel's critically acclaimed television series, Battlestar Galactica, will be released by La-La Land Records on October 23, 2007. Composer Bear McCreary, who scored the first and second seasons of the show, composed the score for the third season as well. In addition to McCreary's score, the album also features McCreary's new interpretation of the classic Bob Dylan song, "All Along the Watchtower," whose themes featured prominently in several episodes and in McCreary's score. Considered one of the top 10 shows currently on TV by Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and TV Guide, Battlestar Galactica also won the prestigious Peabody Award in 2005. The television series stars Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff. The third season began by launching the characters' lives a year ahead of the second season finale. As it the action unfolded, viewers discovered how each of the backstories evolved over the past year. All the while, more light was shed on the inner workings of the mysterious Cylons. Towards the end of the season, a familiar musical theme was heard. By the final episodes it all became evident, these melodies were part of what would be a total re-imagination of the 1967 Bob Dylan classic "All Along the Watchtower," performed by BT4 and featuring former Oingo Boingo musicians John Avila on bass and Steve Bartek on guitar. "It was a daring idea by Ron Moore, and at first I thought he was crazy," confessed McCreary. "It's a classic song that was completely redefined by Jimi Hendrix. But, Ron told me to make it my own and gave me total creative freedom to re-invent this song for Battlestar Galactica. And when the episode came together, I knew it was the right choice." The song's lyrics, including "There must be some way out of here / Said the joker to the thief / There's too much confusion / I can't get no relief," perfectly reflect what the human race is going through in their battle with the Cylons through the series. Both the song and the show raise questions about the very nature of humanity and our struggle to survive against what holds us captive. In addition to the new performance of the song, the soundtrack album features the original score that McCreary wrote for the season. "The show is evolving," describes McCreary. "And the music is evolving as well. It is head and shoulders above anything that I've done before." Bear McCreary's feature film credits include Wrong Turn 2 and Rest Stop. He also scores the hit series Eureka for Sci Fi Channel and the upcoming Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles for Fox. McCreary was among a handful of select protégés of late film music legend Elmer Bernstein (THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN) and is a classically trained composer with degrees in Composition and Recording Arts from the prestigious USC Thornton School of Music. Battlestar Galactica: Razor will be released on DVD December 4. The fourth season premieres on January 11, 2008 on the Sci Fi Channel. The Battlestar Galactica: Season Three soundtrack will be available in stores or from www.lalalandrecords.com on October 23, 2007. The soundtrack from the Battlestar Galactica mini-series, the Season One and Season Two soundtracks, and Wrong Turn 2 are also available from La-La Land Records.

ENCHANTED ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK (October 22, 2007- Burbank, CA) - Walt Disney Records will release the soundtrack for the new part animated, part live-action, movie musical, Enchanted, on November 20, 2007. The recording features songs by Academy Award Winners Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz with original score by Menken. Amy Adams and James Marsden (Princess Giselle and Prince Edward in the film) perform four tracks on the CD. Recording artists Carrie Underwood and Jon McLaughlin each contribute a recording. A classic Disney fairytale collides with modern-day New York City in a story about a fairytale princess (Amy Adams) from the past who is thrust into present-day by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon). Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer (Patrick Dempsey). Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world? Enchanted is in many ways an homage to classic Disney films, beginning as an animated tale then turns into a live-action musical. Director Kevin Lima turned to the team of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz (Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) to create the musical journey for Princess Giselle. After graduating from New York University, Menken began his career writing advertising jingles, accompanying ballet classes, and working as a musical director. He met Howard Ashman and began collaborating on several productions for the WPA Theater, ultimately achieving widespread acclaim with Little Shop of Horrors. The musical was later turned into a film, which earned Menken his first Academy Award nomination. The success of Little Shop of Horrors led Menken to Walt Disney Studios, for whom he has shared some of his greatest accomplishments. His first two Oscars, for best original score and best song ("Under the Sea", featuring lyrics by Ashman) would come three years later, for his work on Disney's The Little Mermaid. The film, like Beauty and the Beast is being turned into a live action musical debuting on Broadway later this year. Beauty and the Beast also featured music by Menken and lyrics by Ashman and earned Menkin two more Academy Awards. To date, Menken has earned 8 Oscars and 15 nominations. For Enchanted, Menken turned to Stephen Schwartz, his collaborator on Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Stephen Schwartz shares an Oscar with Menken for Pocahontas. He has been nominated for numerous Tony Awards for such classic musicals as Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin. Together they would draw on their film and musical theater expertise for Enchanted. "The biggest problem with doing live-action musicals is justifying why the characters are suddenly bursting into song in the middle of very real sets and very real situations," says Schwartz. The concept of Enchanted does so in a way that is true to the characters. "We're really trying to take you back to the Snow White or Cinderella era, pre-Belle, pre-Pinocchio, back to the earliest days of animation," Menken describes. This influence is evident in "Happy Working Song", which shows Giselle utilizing her animal-charming abilities to help straighten out a messy apartment or "True Love's Kiss", a duet between Amy Adams and James Marsden that opens with a classic Disney-style fanfare. Singer/songwriter Jon McLaughlin performs the song "So Close," offering an outer voice that mirrors Giselle's inner emotional journey. Multi-platinum recording artist Carrie Underwood collaborated with Menken and Schwartz on this version of "Ever Ever After" before going into the studio with her producer, Mark Bright, to record the song. Says Underwood, "It's actually one of the more difficult songs I've sung, but it's really cute and it's really fun, and it fits so well with the movie." The song also gave Underwood the opportunity to team up again with video director Roman White, who has directed 6 of her videos including "Before He Cheats," "Jesus Take the Wheel," and current hit "So Small." Though Underwood has been responsible for many memorable songs since winning American Idol, she acknowledges that there is something about recording a song for a Disney film that truly makes you timeless. She describes, "It's really amazing to think that someday kids will know all the words to this song - just like I know the words to a lot of other Disney songs that have become classics." Walt Disney Pictures presents Enchanted in theaters on November 21, 2007. The Enchanted Original Soundtrack will be available November 20, 2007 at a suggested price of $18.98 wherever music is sold. All Walt Disney Records audio products also can be ordered by visiting DisneyRecords.com.

YOUTH WITHOUT YOUTH - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK (November 14, 2007) Critically acclaimed composer, Osvaldo Golijov has joined forces with one of the world's most talented directors, Francis Ford Coppola to create a mesmerizing and captivating score to the film, Youth Without Youth which is releasing on Deutsche Grammophon on December 11th. The score was recorded in Bucharest by the Bucharest Metropolitan Orchestra, young and enthusiastic musicians, conducted by Radu Popa. Francis Ford Coppola and Osvaldo Golijov were present during the entire recording phase, and Deutsche Grammophon has also included a 10-minute documentary on the soundtrack recording that will be available on DVD and included in the press kit. It conveys, directly and emotionally, the uniqueness and beauty of this project. The film stars British actor Tim Roth, Romanian actress Alexandra Maria Lara, and Swiss actor Bruno Ganz, and was written, produced and directed by Coppola, marking his return to personal filmmaking. The screenplay is adapted from a novella by the controversial Romanian fiction writer, philosopher and religious historian Mircea Eliade. The soundtrack will serve as a powerful tool for spreading Golijov's name beyond art-house and concert audiences. Coppola decided to work with Osvaldo Golijov, who has been called, "the composer of the moment" (Boston Globe) and remained closely involved in the process of creating the soundtrack. Featuring a beautiful, nostalgic melody that permeates the entire film, Golijov's score displays all the characteristics for which he has been praised ("thoughtful and instinctive, esoteric and accessible, unfailingly haunting and stimulating" - Gramophone) while also revealing a new facet of his art. The soundtrack is Golijov's fourth recording on Deutsche Grammophon. It follows Oceana which the Chicago Tribune hails "irresistible" and which has remained on the Classic Music charts for the past seventeen weeks. Golijov's opera, Ainadamar was released in 2006 and the two-time Grammy award winning, Ayre, was his DG debut. Youth Without Youth releases in select theaters on December 14th will continue to release nationwide in the weeks following.

HITMAN ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK (December 4- Burbank, CA) - La-La Land Records will release the soundtrack for HITMAN on December 11, 2007. The film is based on the top-selling, award-winning video game franchise. Emmy® Award winning composer Geoff Zanelli (DISTURBIA, INTO THE WEST) wrote the original music for the film. Geoff Zanelli attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music. In 1994 he met Academy Award-winning film composer Hans Zimmer and joined Zimmer's studio team. This experience led to working with composer John Powell on his first Hollywood feature, FACE/OFF, directed by John Woo. Throughout the following years, Zanelli would be called on as a composer and arranger for Powell and Zimmer on many feature films, including THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, ANTZ, the Golden Globe-nominated scores for PEARL HARBOR and THE LAST SAMURAI, and the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN trilogy. This led to Zanelli scoring David Duchovny's feature directorial debut HOUSE OF D, David Koepp's SECRET WINDOW and Steven Spielberg's Into The West for Dreamworks/TNT, for which we earned an Emmy® Award for his score. Recently, he scored DISTURBIA, the first live action film from Dreamworks/Paramount since their merger. Known only as Agent 47, The Hitman (Timothy Olyphant) is a genetically engineered elite assassin. His hallmarks are a lethal grace, unwavering precision, and resolute pride in his work. But even agent 47 couldn't anticipate a "random complication" in his life of exactitude: the unexpected stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a mysterious Russian woman. "The filmmakers afforded me a great deal of creative freedom to write the score I felt the story called for," said Zanelli about his experience on HITMAN. "I wanted to reflect musically the killing machine that 47 is, so tightly in sync with his environment, but give the doomed relationship between 47 and Nika a very different treatment: An exotic, tragic, not-quite-love theme. It was truly rewarding to have the musicians commit to the ideas of the score and approach it with such enthusiasm -- that was the final step in tying the score together." 20th Century Fox present HITMAN, in theaters on November 21. The HITMAN Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be available in stores or from www.lalalandrecords.com on December 11, 2007.

ATONEMENT SOUNDTRACK (November 27, 2007-New York, NY) From Joe Wright, the award-winning director of Pride & Prejudice, comes another classic romance; the epic Atonement reunites the musical forces of Academy Award-nominated composer Dario Marianelli and esteemed Decca artist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. The original soundtrack for Atonement showcases the two creative geniuses, and will be released by Decca on December 4th, 2007; Focus Features releases Atonement, starring James McAvoy, Keira Knightley (Academy Award nominee for Pride & Prejudice), and Romola Garai, in select cities on December 7th. With one note - a touch to a typewriter - the music becomes part of the story being told from the first moment of the film. Dario Marianelli's indelible theme follows the characters through their journeys across decades, with Jean-Yves Thibaudet's solo piano performances also framing their fates. The thematic piano playing is delightful and delicate, against a violin that conveys the pace necessary to the tale. The exquisite combination sustains all of the story's urgency, emotion, epic scope, and romance. Born in Pisa, Italy, Dario Marianelli studied in Florence and later moved to London to continue his studies and set up his current base. His scholarships led him to London's esteemed Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Bretton University College (in Germany), and the National Film and Television School, where he spent three years. His composition work was featured in television shows and stage productions, leading him to work with The BBC Symphony Orchestra as well as The Royal Shakespeare Company. Marianelli's film score compositions include The Brave One, V for Vendetta, and Pride & Prejudice, for which he received an Academy Award nomination in the category of Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score. Jean-Yves Thibaudet has been described as "brilliant" by The New York Times, and rightfully so. At age 5, he began his music studies in France. At 12, he would join the Paris Conservatory, going on to win the Premier Prix du Conservatoire at age 15. Three years later, he won the Young Concert Artists Adution in New York City. He was honored with the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the Republic of France in 2001; and the Premio Pegasus at the Spoleto Festival in South Carolina in 2003. He contributed piano performances to Dario Marianelli's Oscar-nominated score for Pride & Prejudice. Most recently, in February 2007, he was awarded the French accolade of Victoire d'Honneur, which is considered to be a French Grammy equivalent for Lifetime Career Achievement - and is usually awarded to artists much later in life. Atonement stars James McAvoy (BAFTA Award nominee for The Last King of Scotland) opposite Ms. Knightley. Christopher Hampton (Academy Award winner for Dangerous Liaisons) has written the screenplay adaptation of Ian McEwan's best-selling 2002 novel Atonement. Filmed on location in the U.K., the story of Atonement spans several decades. In 1935, 13-year-old fledgling writer Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan) and her family live a life of wealth and privilege in their enormous mansion. On the warmest day of the year, the country estate takes on an unsettling hothouse atmosphere, stoking Briony's vivid imagination. Robbie Turner (Mr. McAvoy), the educated son of the family's housekeeper, carries a torch for Briony's headstrong older sister Cecilia (Ms. Knightley). Cecilia, he hopes, has comparable feelings; all it will take is one spark for this relationship to combust. When it does, Briony - who has a crush on Robbie - is compelled to interfere, going so far as accusing Robbie of a crime he did not commit. Cecilia and Robbie declare their love for each other, but he is arrested - and with Briony bearing false witness, the course of three lives is changed forever. Briony continues to seek forgiveness for her childhood misdeed. Through a terrible and courageous act of imagination, she finds the path to her uncertain atonement, and to an understanding of the power of enduring love.

INTO THE WILD ORIGINAL SCORE (December 11, 2007- Los Angeles, CA) - Lakeshore Records will release the original motion picture score, composed by Michael Brook, for INTO THE WILD on December 18, 2007. The release will be available exclusively through iTunes. Michael Brook is a guitarist and composer. In the 80s Brook worked as an engineer at Daniel Lanois' studio. His first solo album was released in 1985 and featured contributions from Lanois and musical iconoclast Brian Eno. His work on the Michael Mann film HEAT led to Brook composing the music for the Kevin Spacey-directed film ALBINO ALLIGATOR. Brook's recent projects include the Academy Award-winning, global warming documentary AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, for which Brook wrote the original music and produced soundtrack. As a guitarist, Brook contributed to the soundtracks for BLACK HAWK DOWN, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2, and THE PLEDGE. Freshly graduated from college with a promising future ahead, 22 year-old Christopher McCandless (Emile Hirsch) instead walked out of his privileged life and into the wild in search of adventure. What happened to him on the way transformed this young wanderer into an enduring symbol for countless people. Was Christopher McCandless a heroic adventurer or a naive idealist, a rebellious 1990s Thoreau or another lost American son, a fearless risk-taker or a tragic figure who wrestled with the precarious balance between man and nature? Each strand of his journey is woven into Sean Penn's screen adaptation of Jon Krakauer's acclaimed bestseller, INTO THE WILD, which is as much about the insatiable yearning for family, home and connection as it is the search for truth and happiness. Paramount Vantage and River Road Entertainment present INTO THE WILD, currently in theaters. The Lakeshore Records recording, featuring the score by Michael Brook will be available exclusively through iTunes on December 18, 2007.
