NOBEL SON (November 3, 2008- Los Angeles, CA) Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack for NOBEL SON, available via iTunes and Amazon Digital on September 30th and in stores on November 11th 2008. The soundtrack contains original music composed by Paul Oakenfold with songs by The Chemical Brothers, The Atari Babies, Groove Armada, and Spitfire. The career of Paul Oakenfold reads like the résumé of a true Renaissance man. Born in London and formally trained as a chef, Pauls early career includes stints as an A&R consultant (signing the likes of Salt N Pepa, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith), a studio whiz (producing the Happy Mondays 1991 breakout album), and remix artist to the stars (re-working tracks by Madonna, Michael Jackson, U2, and The Rolling Stones among others). Today, Paul splits his time between traveling to the most exotic of locales as the worlds most famous DJ and ensconcing himself in a studio hard at work on his next musical project. He has also enjoyed success venturing into the world of composing for film, television, and video games. Noteworthy credits include music for the films Swordfish, The Matrix Reloaded, Die Another Day, Planet of the Apes, The Bourne Identity, Shrek II, and the James Bond-inspired video game Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. Barkley Michaelson (Bryan Greenberg) is in a deep life rut. Hes struggling to finish his PhD thesis when his father, the learned Eli Michaelson (Alan Richman), wins the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. Barkley and his mother Sarah (Mary Steemburgen), a renowned forensic psychiatrist, now have the ill-fortune of living with a man-eating monster whose philandering ways have gotten less and less discreet. As if Barkleys word isnt bad enough, on the eve of his father receiving the Nobel, Barkley is kidnapped and the requested ransom is the $2,000,000 in Nobel Prize money. Needless to say, Eli refuses to pay it and so starts a venomous tale of family dysfunction, lust, betrayal and ultimately revenge. In the words of Michael de Montaigne, the 16th Century philosopher, There is more barbarity in eating a man alive than in eating him dead. The film also stars Shawn Hatosy, Bill Pullman, Danny DeVito, Ted Danson, and Eliza Dushku. COLD CASE (November 3, 2008- Los Angeles, CA) Lakeshore Records will release the first-ever soundtrack for the Emmy Award nominated television show, COLD CASE. Music plays an integral part in the hit CBS series, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Warner Bros. spawning a lot of discussion in fan groups and message boards on the internet. The Lakeshore Records soundtrack album features original music composed by Michael A. Levine, many of the tracks selected by the fans of the Look Again COLD CASE Forum. The recording will be available via iTunes and Amazon Digital on September 30, 2008 and in stores on November 11th. Composer Michael A. Levine won the ASCAP Film and TV Music Award for five years in a row for his work on COLD CASE. His career is as eclectic as his background. Levine was born in Tokyo, raised in the Midwest and schooled in Canada (McGill University), the University of Wisconsin and Bostons Berklee College of Music. Levine moved to New York City where his first job was playing violin on the streets. Levine would leave the streets behind and began writing music for advertising, combining high-tech sound design with music. He earned the first of two Clio Awards for his work for Mitsubishi Eclipse combining Japanese flute, an operatic soprano, world percussion and electronically processed animal noises. In 1995 Levine would change careers again --scoring the short film CUPIDITY for Keith Thomson. The film would become an award-winning hit after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival. Besides his TV and independent film work, Levine has served as support composer for Hans Zimmer (SHARK TALE, MATCHSTICK MEN), Harry Gregson-Williams (SHREK 2, VERONICA GUERIN), and Cliff Martinez (WONDERLAND, WICKER PARK). COLD CASE is a drama about Lilly Rush (Kathryn Morris), a dedicated female detective in the Philadelphia homicide squad, who finds her niche when she's assigned to "cold cases"--crimes that have never been solved. Previously, she used her instinctive understanding of the criminal mind on current murders. Now, she's interrogating witnesses whose lives and circumstances have since changed, making use of today's new science and finding fresh clues to solve cases that were previously unsolvable--all of which appeals to this smart, driven detective. She's also prepared for the consequences--that her work will open up old wounds and may lead suspects to commit new crimes. Every episode has a unique theme. As we get to know the victim, the theme deepens emotionally, climaxing at the murder scene that takes place just before the final montage, describes Levine. Although each episode jumps back in forth in time, Levine's music usually doesn't directly acknowledge the period, leaving that to licensed music. Levine says, "I see my role as providing timeless continuity - the sonic equivalent of the show's tagline, 'Hope lives...because the evidence never dies.' Like the cops on the show, my most important job is to be a voice for the victim." In a show in which murder is never glamorized, but always presented as tragedy, being a voice for the victim usually means providing a near-operatic score for his or her death. And, as Executive Producer Jonathan Littman, says, "No one does death better than Michael Levine." COLD CASE debuted in 2003 and stars Kathryn Morris, John Finn, Danny Pino, Thom Barry, Jeremy Ratchford, and Tracie Thoms. It airs Sunday nights at 9PM on CBS. The new season will begin airing on September 28th. The COLD CASE original soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be available on iTunes and Amazon Digital on September 30th and in stores on November 11, 2008.

BOLT (November 7, 2008 -- Burbank, CA)- Walt Disney Records will release the original soundtrack for Walt Disney Pictures’ animated comedy adventure BOLT on November 18, 2008. The recording features score written by Grammy®-nominated composer John Powell (Happy Feet, Shrek) and two original songs: “I Thought I Lost You” performed by the film’s stars Miley Cyrus and John Travolta, and “Barking at the Moon” by Jenny Lewis. Composer John Powell has written music for comedies (Hancock, Pluto Nash, Alfie, Mr 3000) and action films (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, X-Men: The Last Stand, Face/Off and the Bourne film trilogy). Some of his most beloved work has been for animated films (Happy Feet, Kung Fu Panda, Ice Age: The Meltdown). The British born Powell began originally trained as a violinist. In 1995 he founded a London based commercial music house before moving to the United States two years later. He is one of the best known former members of the Remote Control (formerly Media Ventures) team of composers, where he first teamed with Harry Gregson-Williams, his collaborator on several scores (Antz, Chicken Run, Shrek). Currently, Miley Cyrus is in production on her third season of her hit TV series Hannah Montana. The special edition of her #1 album Breakout will also be released November 18. In the spring of 2009, Miley will release a book sharing her inspiring story, spanning from her Southern roots in Tennessee to the excitement of her record-setting triumphs in TV, music and film. Her feature film HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE is scheduled for release on April 10, 2009. The golden-voiced singer songwriter front woman, Jenny Lewis co-founded the highly acclaimed Los Angeles based band Rilo Kiley, with whom she has released 4 albums. Her first solo album “Rabbit Fur Coat” was released in 2006, followed by “Acid Tongue” which was released earlier this year. For super-dog BOLT (voice of JOHN TRAVOLTA), every day is filled with adventure, danger and intrigue—at least until the cameras stop rolling. When the star of a hit TV show is accidentally shipped from his Hollywood soundstage to New York City, he begins his biggest adventure yet—a cross-country journey through the real world to get back to his owner and co-star, Penny (voice of MILEY CYRUS). Armed only with the delusions that all his amazing feats and powers are real, and the help of two unlikely traveling companions—a jaded, abandoned housecat named Mittens (voice of SUSIE ESSMAN) and a TV-obsessed hamster named Rhino (voice of MARK WALTON) —Bolt discovers he doesn’t need superpowers to be a hero. Directed by Disney veterans Chris Williams and Byron Howard, BOLT is a hilarious, fun-filled, action-packed animated comedy adventure in Disney Digital 3-D. BOLT opens in theaters on November 21, 2008. The BOLT Original Soundtrack will be in stores on November 18, 2008.

THE GUITAR (October 27, 2008- Los Angeles, CA) Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack for THE GUITAR, available via iTunes and Amazon Digital on November 4th and in stores on November 11th. The soundtrack contains original music composed by David Mansfield (Transamerica, The Apostle, Heavens Gate) and songs by Jonny Savarino, Phoebe Jean Dunne, Alap Momin, Deb Montgomery, and two songs by The Everyothers. A founding member of the platinum selling group Bruce Hornsby and The Range, David Mansfield was signed to his first record deal at 16 as part of the group "Quacky Duck And His Barnyard Friends". Two years later Mansfield joined Bob Dylans band, appearing on three of Dylans studio albums. Mansfields first foray into scoring for feature films was for the 1980 epic Heavens Gate which led to his four-film collaboration with Michael Cimino. Since then he has composed for a wide range of films including Transamerica, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (with T-Bone Burnett), Songcatcher, The Apostle, Year of the Dragon, and the Golden Globe winning made-for-TV movies Truman and A Streetcar Named Desire. How would you behave if you had to confront your own mortality? Especially if you were young, in your twenties or early thirties, how would you react if you learned you had less than two months to live? These questions create the point of departure for Amy Redfords whimsical fairytale The Guitar, a thoroughly engaging almost mythological allegory that is fueled by the exceptional performance of Saffron Burrows and executed with style by its director. One morning Mel, a mousy, harried New Yorker with a thankless job and an even-less-appealing boyfriend learns that the tumor in her throat is cancerous; the diagnosis is terminal, so it seems that both her job and her relationship are kaput. Rather than lying down and dying then and there, she embarks on an endless spree, the kind of self-indulgent wish fulfillment that we have all fantasized about. The film, which is based on a true story, was written by Amos Poe. Sony Pictures Classics presents THE GUITAR in theaters on November 7, 2008. THE GUITAR original soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be available via iTunes and Amazon Digital on November 4th and in stores on November 11th.

SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK (November 3, 2008- Los Angeles, CA) Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack for SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK, available via iTunes and Amazon Digital on October 14th and in stores on November 25th. The soundtrack contains original music composed by Jon Brion (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Magnolia). Jon Brion received a Best Score nomination by the World Soundtrack Awards for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which was co-written by his Synecdoche, New York director Charlie Kaufman and that films director Michel Gondry. Brion is a singer, songwriter, composer, music producer and instrumentalist. He recently composed the scores for The Break-Up and scored and wrote songs for I Heart Huckabees. Additionally, Brion composed scores for Paul Thomas Andersons Punch-Drunk Love (2001) and Magnolia (1999, Grammy nomination for Best Score), and Hard Eight (1996). Highly in demand as a producer and studio musician, Brion has collaborated with such artists as Kanye West, Dido, Macy Gray, Rufus Wainwright, The Crystal Method, Jude Cole, Susanna Hoffs, Sam Phillips, and EELS. In addition to his collaboration with top artists, Brion released his first solo album, Meaningless, in 2001. SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK is the directorial debut of two-time Academy Award®-winning writer Charlie Kaufman (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich). I love working with Charlie Kaufman, described Brion. He is one of my favorite creative people in the world. All of my experiences with him have been consistently great... This one has been no exception. Boasting an all star cast, SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK stars Academy Award®-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, two-time Academy Award®-nominee Samantha Morton, Academy Award®-nominee Michelle Williams, two-time Academy Award®-nominee Catherine Keener, two-time Academy Award®-nominee Emily Watson, two-time Academy Award®-winner Dianne Wiest, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hope Davis, and Tom Noonan. Theater director Caden Cotard (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is mounting a new play. His life catering to suburban blue-hairs at the local regional theater in Schenectady, New York is looking bleak. His wife Adele (Catherine Keener) has left him to pursue her painting in Berlin, taking their young daughter Olive (Sadie Goldstein) with her. His therapist, Madeleine Gravis (Hope Davis), is better at plugging her best-seller than she is at counseling him. A new relationship with the alluringly candid Hazel (Samantha Morton) has prematurely run aground and threatens his new marriage to actress Claire (Michelle Williams). And a mysterious condition is systematically shutting down each of his autonomic functions, one by one. Worried about the transience of his life, he leaves his home behind. He gathers an ensemble cast into a warehouse in New York City, hoping to create a work of brutal honesty. He directs them in a celebration of the mundane, instructing each to live out their constructed lives in a growing mockup of the city outside. The textured tangle of real and theatrical relationships blurs the line between the world of the play and that of Caden's own deteriorating reality. As far as the record is concerned, described Brion, if youve got a weird knot in your gut or some things you cant let go of or return to, this may be the soundtrack for you. Sony Pictures Classics presents SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on October 24, 2008, and theaters nationwide throughout October. SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK original soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be available via iTunes and Amazon Digital on October 14th and in stores on November 25th.

TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CHRONICLES SOUNDTRACK (December 2, 2008- Burbank, CA) The soundtrack for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will be released by La-La Land Records on December 16, 2008. Composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, Eureka), composed the original score. The soundtrack features original score from the first and second seasons of the hit FOX TV show, and also features the track Samson and Delilah, performed by season two star and Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson and arranged by McCreary. Composer Bear McCreary is one of the top young composers working in Hollywood. His work on the television series Battlestar Galactica has been described as offering some of the most innovative music on TV today, by Variety, and his blog www.bearmccreary.com/blog, which features in-depth inside looks at the process of scoring Battlestar Galactica, was called "one of the best blogs in the business. It's a fascinating look at the process of making music for film and television and the care he takes with aligning the score with the twists and turns of each character's plot lines," by The Hollywood Reporter. McCreary also scores the hit SCI FI series Eureka. His film credits include Wrong Turn 2 and the Rest Stop films. McCreary was among a handful of select protégés of late film music legend Elmer Bernstein (THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN) and is a classically trained composer with degrees in Composition and Recording Arts from the prestigious USC Thornton School of Music. The 1984 film, The Terminator starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as a cyborg killing machine known as a Terminator, sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor (then-Linda Hamilton) before she gives birth to her son and future savior of the human race, John Connor. Sarah Connor morphs from timid waitress to kick-ass momma in the 1991 sequel Terminator 2: Judgement Day, with the original Terminator reprogrammed and back to help Sarah protect her now pre-teen son from a different killing machine. The events of the hit television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles begin a few years after Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The series begins again with a Terminator being sent back to kill the now teenage John (Thomas Dekker). The future John Connor has also sent back a Terminator (played by Serenitys Summer Glau) to protect the younger version of himself and his mother Sarah (Lena Headey) as they plot to destroy Skynet and hope to prevent the impending Armageddon. Because the music for the Terminator films was an important part of its spirit, composer Bear McCreary chose to incorporate references to Brad Fiedels score into the television series. Says McCreary, Fiedels work elevated the art of synthesizers in film music, and forged a signature musical identity for the Terminator mythology. While his main melody is infinitely memorable, he also used sonic and textural colors in very characteristic ways. I set out to score Sarah Connor by keeping this soundscape intact: in essence to make this series feel like a credible heir to Terminator and Terminator 2. While Fiedels work focused on expressive synthesizers, McCreary decided to warm the sound up a bit, incorporating more live musicians in the studio. He orchestrated the music to include a string quartet, recorded playing together through pick-ups run through mic-ed amplifiers. The result sounds lush and warm, a lyrical backdrop for the emotional story arcs of the series, McCreary described. But, these strings also feel manipulated, distorted by speakers and wires. In the same way that Cameron is a robot hidden beneath human flesh, the string ensemble is an electronic entity masked by acoustic instruments and live musicians. Executive Producer Josh Friedman couldnt be more pleased with the musical landscape of the series. What do I like most about Bears music? he posits. Well, for one, its smarter than I am. It manages to create a dialogue between past and present Terminator compositions (appropriate for a time travel franchise) without seeming to quote or steal or simply ignore. The music loves its family tree without being a slave to it. Series star Thomas Dekker agrees, Bears simple assembly of notes and clever chord transition below it, changing at just the right time, and recurring in endless different incarnations, never ceases to give me chills. The La-La Land Records soundtrack features McCrearys music from the first and second seasons of the series, and also the track Samson and Delilah, featured in the second season and performed by new cast member Shirley Manson. Friedman explains, I think it goes very well with the season one material. It was conceived as a companion to the Johnny Cash When the Man Comes Around sequence that finished up our Season One finale. Shirley Manson, who joined the cast in season two as Catherine Weaver, is best known as the lead singer of the multi-platinum group Garbage. The groups 1995 debut recording was a critical and commercial success. It spawned the hit single Stupid Girl and sold millions of albums worldwide. They followed it up with Version 2.0 which was nominated for two Grammy Awards. The group announced its hiatus in 2005 with Manson recording a solo album. In 2007 Absolute Garbage, a greatest hits retrospective was released. Executive Producer Josh Friedman invited Manson out to dinner. She describes, He took me to dinner under false pretences, leading me to believe it was my sparkling company and wit he sought. As it turns out he wanted me to sing this old folk song to accompany the first five minutes of footage that opens season two. I would have said no but for the copious glasses of champagne he had plied me with. I said yes. The dinner led to the recording of Samson and Delilah and her casting for the second season as the mysterious ZeiraNet CEO Catherine Weaver. And the rest, as they say, is showbiz! The second season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles currently airs on FOX Monday nights 9PM. The first season is currently available on DVD. The original soundtrack will be available in stores or from www.lalalandrecords.com on December 16, 2008. Also available from La-La Land Records are the soundtracks for Battlestar Galactica Season One, Season Two, Season Three, Eureka, Wrong Turn 2, and Rest Stop: Dont Look Back also composed by Bear McCreary.

THE DEAD POOL (December 2, 2008- Los Angeles, CA) Aleph Records will release the soundtrack for The Dead Pool on January 13. The Dead Pool was the fifth and final film of the Dirty Harry series. Composer Lalo Schifrin, who composed the soundtracks for Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, and Sudden Impact wrote the original music. Aleph Records has released the soundtracks for the first four films, including The Enforcer, which was composed by Jerry Fielding. Dirty Harry introduced audiences to the character of Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood), a no-nonsense cop who seems to have trouble keeping his partners alive. In The Dead Pool, Harry finds himself in the public eye, a local celebrity thanks to tabloid coverage. He is added to a schlock horror film crews dead pool, a series of bets as to who will die first, conceived of by the director (played by Liam Neeson). A serial killer who is an obsessed fan of the director tries to fix the game and Harry realizes he is next on the list. The film boasts a spoof of the famed car chase scene from Bullitt this time with Harry being chased by a remote controlled toy car, loaded with explosives. Having composed the music for Bullitt as well as 3 of the 4 previous films in the series -- Schifrin was unavailable to score The Enforcer due to a scheduling snafu Lalo Schifrin was the natural choice to enter The Dead Pool. Composer Lalo Schifrin is a true Renaissance man. As a pianist, composer and conductor, he is equally at home conducting a symphony orchestra, performing at an international jazz festival, scoring a film or television show, or creating works for the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the London Philharmonic and even The Sultan of Oman. He has written more than 100 scores for films and television including the classic scores for Mission: Impossible, Mannix, The Fox, Cool Hand Luke, Bullitt, Dirty Harry, The Cincinnati Kid, and The Amityville Horror. Schifrins recent film scores include Tango, all 3 films from the Rush Hour trilogy, Bringing Down The House, The Bridge of San Luis Rey, After the Sunset, and Abominable. To date, Lalo Schifrin has won four Grammy Awards (with twenty-one nominations), one Cable ACE Award, and received six Oscar nominations. The Dead Pool will be available in stores and via iTunes January 13, 2008.

THE UNINVITED (February 9, 2008- Los Angeles, CA) Lakeshore Records will release the soundtrack for THE UNINVITED, available digitally (iTunes and Amazon Digital) on January 27th and in stores on February 10. The film is based on the 2003 Kim Jee-Woons 2003 film, Changhwa Hongryon. Christopher Young (Untraceable, Spiderman 3) composed the score. Golden Globe-nominated composer Christopher Young has scored almost 100 successful features ranging across virtually every genre, all with strikingly original music. Never repeating himself, Youngs works extend from the spine-tingling Hellraiser showcasing his seminal upbringing in horror; to the new-techno sound of Swordfish and the resonant, genuine Celtic sounds of The Shipping News. With each successive Christopher Young crafted score, the composer continually stretches the bounds of his versatility. Young has worked with some of the top filmmakers of the past ten years including Norman Jewison (The Hurricane and Bandits), Sam Raimi (The Gift, Spiderman 3, The Grudge and The Grudge 2) and Curtis Hanson (Lucky You, Wonder Boys). In addition to his busy film-composing schedule, Young is imparting his experience and knowledge to a new generation of film composers, teaching at USC since the early nineties. He is a two-term past president of The Film Music Society and the president of the Madrid Film Music Festival in Spain. THE UNINVITED revolves around Anna (Emily Browning) who returns home after spending time in the hospital following the tragic death of her mother. Her recovery suffers a setback when she discovers her father (David Strathaim) has become engaged to her mothers former nurse, Rachel (Elizabeth Banks). That night Anna is visited by her mothers ghost, who warns her of Rachels intentions. Together Anna and her sister (Arielle Kebbel) try to convince their father that his current fiancée is not who she pretends to be, and what should have been a happy family reunion becomes a lethal battle of wills between stepdaughters and stepmother. Dreamworks Pictures presents THE UNINVITED in theaters nationwide on January 30, 2009. THE UNINVITED original soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be available via iTunes and Amazon Digital on January 27th and in stores on February 10, 2009.
