Howdy all, I just wanted to send around a quick update on the various projects I've been working on as well as info on the opportunity to buy some original comic art! THE TICK: Anniversary Specials and Original Art Auctions!Earlier this year, I worked on two TICK specials for New England Comics to help celebrate the character's big 20th anniversary! THE TICK 20TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL is now available in stores and features a cavalcade of short stories by comic superstars like Ben Edlund, Josh Howard, Zander Cannon, Fred Hembeck, Terry Moore, Arthur Suydam, Cory Walker, and many more. And me. And in stores THIS WEEK (Wed, July 11) is the TICK COMIC-CON EXTRAVAGANZA, a special I wrote and drew, in which the Tick and Arthur (and their dysfunctional superhero group) get invited to a comic convention as special guests, resulting in oodles of geeky comic-con shennanigans. Get your copy today! To help celebrate the TICK anniversary, I've sifted through my personal pile of original TICK art and will be auctioning off select pages from the various issues I've worked on. I will also be auctioning off ORIGINAL COVER ART for several of the issues, which will be the first time I've offered cover art for sale. Look for those in the coming weeks on eBay if you've ever wanted to own a piece of TICK original art. MELTDOWN: Original Art and Graphic Novel! In other original art news, I am also currently selling pages from my Image Comics project MELTDOWN. Priced very reasonably for original comic art, you can choose pages from the cartoony Past style, or the gritty and dark Present style, or both! Shipping will be a flat rate regardless of how many pages you buy, so buy more and save on shipping. You can check out the MELTDOWN original art store on my website here: seanwang.com/store_meltdown.shtmlIn related MELTDOWN news, the graphic novel collection comes out this month in comic shops and bookstores. This definitive collection contains a plethora of special features, including sketchbook pages, a feature on designing the costume, the original series pitch by writer David B Schwartz, and pinups by some great indy comic creators. And best of all, for those of you who like DVD commentary tracks, there is an extensive behind-the-scenes creator commentary by David and myself, in which we dissect the book, page-by-page, to give insight on the process of creating the series, including alternate endings, deleted scenes, and changes to the art and story we made along the way. So be sure to check out the MELTDOWN DEIFINITIVE COLLECTION graphic novel this month. And check out the MELTDOWN Original Art Store now to own your very own piece of the series! RUNNERS: Exciting news is on the way! Finally, I am currently wrapping up some various freelance projects and will next be returning to RUNNERS! Many things are in the works for the continuation of that series, and I should have some very exciting news to report in a few months as I get further along. Stay tuned for more info and remember to keep checking out my website for updates! So that's about it. Enjoy the summer, and for those of you going to the San Diego Comic-Con, be sure to look for MELTDOWN writer David B. Schwartz there, as well as the TICK publishers, New England Comics. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it this year. But I'll be there next year...with more RUNNERS!! -Sean www.seanwang.com

RUNNERS RETURNS...IN COLOR! That's right! The long wait is over as the sci-fi adventure series RUNNERS is back with a brand-new story arc in 2008! And this time around, the comic will be in FULL COLOR! New Series, New Publisher! The new 5-issue series, RUNNERS: THE BIG SNOW JOB, will be published by Archaia Studios Press, publisher of Mouse Guard, Artesia, The Killer, Okko, and many other excellent titles. Series Storyline Hard times have fallen on Roka Nostaco and the smuggling crew of the Khoruysa Brimia. Tired of scraping by on small-time runs for petty criminals, they take on a big job to get back into the top tier of mob-level work. But high pay comes with high risk, and if the freezing climate of Planet Ciceron doesn't kill them, the hostile native population might. Assuming they don't all kill each other first! Success could put them back on track, but are they in the driver's seat or just pawns in a much bigger double-cross? Order Runners:The Big Snow Job #1 The first issue is being solicited in the March issue of PREVIEWS, which is out NOW. Look for the listing on page 214 (under Archaia Studios Press) and look for the full-page ad on page 212. And be sure to tell your comic retailer to order plenty! The series will be released on a bi-monthly schedule, so no more long waits between issues! Woo-hoo! (Unless of course you think two months is a long wait). Convention News: I'll be hitting the comic-con circuit this summer to promote the new RUNNERS series, starting with the New York Comic Con, April 18-20, at the Javits Center in, you guessed it, New York. I'll also be at WizardWorld Philly, May 30-June 1. In both instances, I'll be at the Archaia booth when I'm not walking around the show floor looking for toys. And I plan to add more shows to the schedule so check my website for updates. Website News: The www.seanwang.com/ website has just been renovated and is now bigger, bolder, and easier to navigate. I'll be expanding the site with a lot more content in the coming weeks and months, including a greatly expanded TICK section, so be sure to check back often.

RUNNERS: THE BIG SNOW JOB #2 FOR PRE-ORDER NOW! Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered the first issue of RUNNERS: THE BIG SNOW JOB, the new story arc of my sci-fi adventure series. Issue #2 of the full-color series is available for pre-order in the MAY issue of PREVIEWS, which is in stores now. The solicitation can be found on page 216 under Archaia Studios Press. In issue #2 of RUNNERS: THE BIG SNOW JOB, all is not well with the crew of the Khoruysa Brimia as they arrive on the icy planet of Ciceron.Tracking a band of cattle rustlers deep into the frozen wilderness, tensions mount between Roka and Bennesaud while Bocce gets the cold shoulder when he’s left behind entirely. But he might be the lucky one as the rustlers aren’t the easy marks they appear to be. And the runners may be walking right into a trap… Early reviews are starting to come in for the new series and they're every bit as good as the reviews for the first series. Yay! Take that, sophomore slump! Anyway, be sure to get on the bandwagon! If you're interested in getting the series, I HIGHLY encourage you to ask your local comic store to order copies for both you AND the shelf. Please don't expect it to automatically show up on your store shelf, since retailers have a LOT to choose from each month. So please make sure to let your store know about RUNNERS. In addition to issue #2, orders can still be taken for issue #1, which is listed in the March issue of PREVIEWS on page 214 (under Archaia Studios Press). The original RUNNERS: BAD GOODS graphic novel is also in the March PREVIEWS on page 336, under Serve Man Press. Again, please encourage your comic store to order both since they may not be automatically stocking it without someone asking them to. > Preview Runners: The Big Snow Job #2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11-PAGE PREVIEW OF THE BIG SNOW JOB #1 ONLINE! In case some of you want a sneak peek at the new, full-color look of the series, the first 11 pages of RUNNERS: THE BIG SNOW JOB #1 can be found on the Archaia site here: www.archaiasp.com/runners.php And the first 5 pages of issue #2 can be found on my website here: www.seanwang.com/run02_snowjob/ Hope you enjoy the sneak peeks, and be sure to order issue #2 (I guess you've got about two weeks left to get this month's orders in). See you in a couple months with a sneak peek at issue #3! - Sean

RUNNERS WEBCOMIC LAUNCHES
Some of you may have been tracking this news from my website and some of you may be just hearing about it now, but it is now official: RUNNERS, my sci-fi adventure comic about alien smugglers, will now be available to everyone FOR FREE as a daily webcomic!
RUNNERSUNIVERSE.com launches Mar 2, 2009, and new pages will post 5 days a week, Monday-Friday. The site will start with the first story arc, RUNNERS: Bad Goods, in its entirety. Immediately following the conclusion of Bad Goods, the long-awaited second story arc, RUNNERS: The Big Snow Job, will begin posting. That series will then be collected into graphic novel format after it finishes posting online.
Some of you may have been expecting the new series to come out through Archaia Studios Press, but when the company went through its restructuring in mid-to-late 2008, I re-evaluated what I wanted to do with the series and decided that in order to reach as wide an audience as possible, I would offer the entire series for free online.
The idea is that with purely digital distribution, the audience is not severely limited to just those few who can find the book on their store shelves or make it to a comic convention that I'm attending. It will be available to EVERYONE, with no fee, no subscription costs, nothing. And in these tough economic times and rising comic prices, who couldn't use a little FREE entertainment??
You, the reader, won't be paying anything, and I also won't be making anything. But that's okay. The idea is just to build the audience as big as possible and then go from there. My sincere belief is that many who read the series online at RUNNERSUNIVERSE.com will still want to purchase the printed volumes. And hopefully, with a larger audience that is familiar with the series, comic stores can then order the books with a little more confidence that they aren't "taking a chance" on an unknown small press book-- everyone wins!
If you've never read RUNNERS before, now is your chance to read it completely for free online at RUNNERSUNIVERSE.com. And for those of you who have read it, and have been championing and supporting the series, please help me spread the word and get the big news (and the link) out there, so everyone else can discover what you've known about for years. Plus, I'll be adding notes, trivia, and behind-the-scenes info to most pages I post, so even long-time readers will get something new out of the webcomic. And there's also a shiny, new forum for all you RUNNERS fans, both new and old, to get your geek on!
It's an exciting time for RUNNERS and I hope you'll all join me over at RUNNERSUNIVERSE.com in bringing the series to the digital age ... and to the masses!

RUNNERS: “THE BIG SNOW JOB” LAUNCHES! Thanks to everyone who has been following my sci-fi adventure comic RUNNERS over at www.runnersuniverse.com! The site launched back in March, with the entire series being posted online as a FREE webcomic. So far, response has been amazing. The entire first story, RUNNERS: Bad Goods, has now been posted online, and I’m EXTREMELY excited to announce that the eagerly-awaited all-new story arc, RUNNERS: The Big Snow Job, is now starting…in FULL COLOR!! In the new arc, hard times have fallen on Roka Nostaco and the smuggling crew of the Khoruysa Brimia. The new story arc began September 3, with new pages posting twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. > The Big Snow Job #1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE COMMENTARY As with the first story, I’m continuing to include commentary with the new series online. As you may know, I posted Bad Goods with notes, trivia, and behind-the-scenes info on almost every page as an incentive for readers to check it out even if they had already picked up the graphic novel. Everyone seems to really love the commentary aspect of the online content, and I really enjoy doing it as well, so the new story arc will also run with plenty of behind-the-scenes info and trivia! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COMIC SALE AND SNOW JOB GRAPHIC NOVEL To celebrate the start of the new story arc, I’m also offering a special deal on the original issues of the first arc. At the www.runnersuniverse.com store, you can pick up a set of all five original issues of Bad Goods for just $5 (not including shipping). The Bad Goods graphic novel is also still available at its regular price, but I thought the $5 issue set might be a nice, cheap way for new readers to get the whole first story before jumping into the next one. Along those lines, the new series will be collected into graphic novel format eventually, since I still love print comics myself. But the collection won’t come until after it finishes posting online, so readers should definitely check it out there in the meantime. It’s free, it’s color, it’s alien smugglers in space! Plus commentary! What more could you ask for? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out RUNNERS: The Big Snow Job at www.runnersuniverse.com now! - Sean

RUNNERS: “THE BIG SNOW JOB” #1 AND #2 ONLINE! The first two issues of RUNNERS: The Big Snow Job, are now available online at www.runnersuniverse.com! In the new FULL COLOR arc, hard times have fallen on Roka Nostaco and the smuggling crew of the Khoruysa Brimia. Forced to take a low-level job on the icy planet of Ciceron, the frazzled crew is starting to come apart. But they’ll have to band together if they’re going to survive the freezing climate, the hostile native population, and the string of double crosses waiting for them… The new story started posting in September 2009, but if you’ve been waiting to read it in larger chunks, now you can read the entire first two issues online. And issue #3 is now well underway. And don’t forget, the entire first story, RUNNERS: Bad Goods, is also online in its entirety. So catch both stories now at www.runnersuniverse.com. > The Big Snow Job #1 > The Big Snow Job #2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BONUS CONTENT THURSDAYS With RUNNERS: The Big Snow Job #3, I decided to reduce new page posts to once a week in order to build some buffer time in my schedule. Instead of the original Monday and Thursday posting schedule, new pages of story now post on Mondays. New content still posts every Thursday though! Instead of an additional story page, the second weekly post is now behind-the-scenes Bonus Content. The content will range from character turnarounds, to prop and ship diagrams, to concept sketches, to process documents that show my method of working. This is in addition to the commentary I’m still providing with each posted story page. So I hope you’ll check out both posts each week! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HARVEY AWARD NOMINATIONS DUE FRIDAY, APRIL 23 If you are a comic creator and would like to support RUNNERS, please submit a nomination ballot for the Harvey Awards by this Friday, April 23. Ballots can be downloaded at www.harveyawards.org and winners will be announced at the Baltimore Comic Con in August. I think the series could potentially fall into the following categories: BEST CARTOONIST: Sean Wang, RUNNERS, www.runnersuniverse.comBEST CONTINUING OR LIMITED SERIES: RUNNERS: The Big Snow Job, www.runnersuniverse.comBEST ONLINE COMICS WORK: RUNNERS, www.runnersuniverse.comIt would be sweet to be able to label RUNNERS a “Harvey Award Nominee” (or better yet, a “Harvey Award Winner!”). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TICK ART EBAY AUCTION Not really RUNNERS-related, but I just had an auction listed on eBay for a heaping pile of TICK page art. It's not original art but photocopies of full issues in both the pencil and ink stages. At the time I was working on the TICK series, I made 8.5 x 11” copies of the artwork at both the penciling stage and the inking stage, before the shading and lettering was dropped in. I was recently going through my personal archives and decided I had no real use for them anymore, but before just recycling them, I thought maybe they’d be of interest to somebody out there. Not sure I’d call them a “collectible” as much as a “curiosity” since someone might find it cool to see what penciled and inked pages looked like on the series. Obviously, the copy quality varies from page to page and isn’t perfect, but it might be cool for anyone with an interest in the comic art process. Or anyone with an interest in reams of paper. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190390179051The auction ends Sunday, April 25, so be sure to check it out now if you’re interested. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RUNNERS ON FACEBOOK Want to stay in the loop with all things RUNNERS and join a community of like-minded individuals? Then join the RUNNERS fan page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Runners-The-Comic/249125045507 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STORE ITEMS At the Store section, I’m still offering a special deal on the original issues of the first arc. You can pick up a set of all five issues of Bad Goods for just $5 (not including shipping). The Bad Goods graphic novel is also still available at its regular price, but the $5 issue set might be a nice, cheap way for new readers to get the whole first story before jumping into the current one. You can also get the Image Comics graphic novel MELTDOWN for the reduced price of $10 (instead of $15). If you’re enjoying RUNNERS, please feel free to support the endeavor and buy a book at the Store! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And be sure to check out RUNNERS: The Big Snow Job at www.runnersuniverse.com now! - Sean www.seanwang.comwww.runnersuniverse.com

RUNNERS: THE BIG SNOW JOB COMING TO KICKSTARTER! Runners fans rejoice! Runners: The Big Snow Job, the second story arc of the acclaimed sci-fi adventure comic, is making its way to print and you can help make it happen. In just another week and a half, the project will officially launch on Kickstarter.com! All the story content is finished and has posted online at www.runnersuniverse.com as a webcomic series, but I am now collecting the entire story into graphic novel format. The printing of a full-color book can get expensive, so I am turning to Kickstarter to help me fund the project. For those unfamiliar with Kickstarter, it is a crowd-source funding site where creators can list their projects and offer rewards for pledges of varying levels. For people pledging money, they will only be charged if the campaign is successful and the creator's monetary goal is reached. At that point, the creator receives the money to fund the creation of the product, and the backers of the project will receive the product and other assorted reward goodies. Everybody wins! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOOK SPECS & KICKSTARTER REWARDS In the new full-color arc, hard times have fallen on Roka Nostaco and the smuggling crew of the Khoruysa Brimia. Forced to take a low-level job on the icy planet of Ciceron, the frazzled crew is starting to come apart. But they’ll have to band together if they’re going to survive the freezing climate, the hostile native population, and the string of double crosses waiting for them… The Runners: The Big Snow Job graphic novel will be 168 pages of full-color alien-tastic glory! It will collect the entire story arc and include an all-new, 6-page story epilogue, as well as 10 sketchbook pages and pinups from some amazing friends, including David Petersen (MouseGuard) and Khoi Pham (Avengers, X-Men). For the Kickstarter campaign, I will be offering lots of cool reward incentives, including character cards, 11x17" color prints, a 64-page expanded sketchbook, and even some of the original cover art! I'll also be offering three levels of custom inked illustrations featuring any character(s) you choose. It's going to be a very exciting campaign, and I'm psyched to finally get it going. But I'll need your help to make it successful. If you like Runners, please help me start getting the word out via blog posts, forums, Facebook, Twitter, sky-writing, and leaflets dropped by zeppelin. Anything and everything helps. Let your friends and fellow comic/sci-fi fans know that the campaign is coming. And when the Kickstarter project goes live in another week and a half, I'll send another newsletter with more info and a direct link to the project page. In the meantime, you can visit www.runnersuniverse.com or the Runners Facebook Fan page to see some samples of the many rewards that will be available. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOLLOW RUNNERS ON FACEBOOK Stay in the loop with all things Runners and join the Runners fan page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Runners-The-Comic/249125045507 And look for another newsletter in the last week of February when the Kickstarter campaign goes live! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Sean www.seanwang.comwww.runnersuniverse.com
