The Bronx Zoo's Wild Winterland

When: Dec. 6–7, 13–14, 20–21, & Dec. 22–Jan. 4, 2009, 11:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
"This winter, the Bronx Zoo’s annual nighttime holiday event becomes a daytime extravaganza, as the Wildlife Conservation Society continues to lighten our energy output and provide great family traditions. Hess Presents the Bronx Zoo’s Wild Winterland begins on Saturday, Dec. 6. As an added benefit of the new daylight hours, the event will feature even more animals than in the past. Holiday décor will adorn the zoo and make for a truly festive season.
According to the WCS Green Team, which works to measure and limit greenhouse gas emissions, the Bronx Zoo will bring about a significant reduction in carbon output by moving its holiday event to daytime hours. Specifically, the electricity saved will amount to about 66 metric tons of carbon emissions, the equivalent of the annual emissions from a three-person household in the U.S.
