Singer / Songwriter Marc Nadjiwan just contacted us with news of his latest tour:
The Songs Of Spirit Tour is an exciting mix of Aboriginal folk/rock songs of social conscience. The songs revolve around current issues and themes concerning the First Nations people of North America as well as a universal message all peoples can appreciate. The music is upbeat and uplifting although at times the subject matter delves into serious and complex issues such as drug and alcohol abuse to misconduct by our own government.
The Songs Of Spirit Tour is being co-headlined by multi-award winning artist Little Hawk and multi-award nominee NADJIWAN.
Little Hawk, an award winning musican and former frontman for Eagle and Hawk is getting ready to release his new album Home and Native Land.
While in the process of offering the lyrics of his first CD as a teaching tool, Little Hawk was introduced to the idea of redefining the Canadian anthem with a brutal honesty, of shining light in the shadowy places of Canada's history. The raw subject matter was a dark but fertile muse and included the standoffs at Ipperwash and Oka, and the freezing death of Neil Stonechild. Home And Native Land, Little Hawk's second album, is the controversial product of a sympathetic rage regarding those tragic events.
Marc Nadjiwan was born in Lynn Lake, Manitoba and grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He has released three full-length albums and one EP. Over the years he has been nominated for 2 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards and 2 Native American Music Awards. Nadjiwan has performed at various major music festivals across Canada and the United States. Recently, Marc has had
the pleasure of taking on the role of music producer by producing Cheri Maracle's debut release Closer To Home as well as working with Little Hawk for the tune Ipperwash to appear on his new release.
The tour is scheduled to hit the following cities:
Friday March 16th - Laurentian University - Sudbury, ON
Sunday March 18th - Georgian Bay Native Friendship Centre - Midland, ON
Monday March 19th - The Horseshoe Tavern - Toronto, Ontario (also appearing Cheri Maracle & The Showbiz Indians + Bezhig)
