It's at the point now that I can name ALL the movies I've gone to see in the last 7 years. It's easy, there's only 4 of them. The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy plus Master And Commander. That's it. I can't think of another movie that I'd want to spend a small fortune to sit through. Rentals are better, and since my kids provided me with a DVD player (Wonderful Kids I have by the way) I can rent movies I wouldn't pay to see in the theaters.

Absolutely my point. The industry is self-destructing by raising the cost of tickets. They're forcing people to stay away from the theaters.

There's your problem right there. You wasted your money to see Master and Commander. I got the soundtrack for free and I felt like I wasted cash. That movie would have made me never want to see a movie again. That's why I didn't see Cinderella Man.

I can't remember the last movie I went to see in the theater... oh wait, I saw the final Star Wars. Before that, the last thing I saw in the theater was the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. There are few movies that I will pay movie prices for now. The movie has gotta be something I started in a series, like Star Wars, or completely kick ass like LOTR. I actually am looking forward to The Chronicles of Narnia, though, they look like they'll be another LOTR. I wanted to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith in the theater because I heard such great things, but Dixie wanted to wait until video, and to tell you the truth, I'd rather Netflix as many as I can. But I digress... I had a point, I think.
I heard that the movie industry, well at least certain companies, are going to start releasing movies in the theater, on DVD, and on TV on the exact same day. Apparently it's to get all the money up front, because when they do the theater first and wait for everything else they only get the diehard movie-going fans. They don't get the people who just want to buy or rent the DVD and sit at home and watch it. And they don't get the people who want to watch it with commercials... um, okay, my logic is a little messed up on that one. But anyways, that is what I heard... that they don't want to have to wait for the different markets to get their money. I think that's not a bad idea and probably would jumpstart things again.

Legend of Narnia does look good. Is that the movie based on the children's book? I think I saw the preview in the theaters. I also like LOTR dude's KIng Kong movie remake. Looks good. Why is Jack Black in it though?
As for the idea of releasing them all at once; not good. I think it is better when they wait a year to release them. It makes people go to the theaters, because it will take too long for the movie to come out on DVD and then when it does come out, everyone wants to get the DVD, because they wanted to see it again. That would make more sense to me. The other way, the movie industry only gets money in one area and not the others.
