Okay, who doesn't think that something's a tad hinkey about the Emmys this year. I mean, Everybody Loves Raymond beating out Desperate Housewives? I've got to say, as funny as Raymond can sometimes be, we all know that his show won because it finished its run last season. And James Spader over Hugh Laurie? Spader's character is a joke. Where is the drama? Hugh Laurie however is as dramatic as they come with a bit of wit added to the mix. I'm happy with the choice of Felicity Huffman. I have watched her since Sports Night and she is a fine comedic actress. I can accept Patricia Arquette's win, though I thought that Mariska Hargitay should have nailed that one. And I am ecstatic about S. Epatha Merkerson's award - now there's an actress who deserves some credit! But William Shatner and Brad Garrett? Are you kidding? And Doris Roberts over Megan Mullally? What is this Everybody Loves Raymond or the Emmys? And really - do we need an award for reality shows? Gimme a break.

I'm sorry, have you JUST STARTED WATCHING the Emmys? They are always a little biased and not completely indicative of a true good performance. If it was, Buffy's episode "The Body" where her mother dies would've won when it was up for best direction. But, hey.
I agree with all of your comments, although I feel that Raymond is a very funny show and that it deserved at least some of those Emmy's. I would complain that Lost should've one something in the actor categories, but I'm still recovering from the bliss that they won best drama.
It's about time a genre show got some Emmy play!

Do you know how the Emmys work before you trash them. First off, some people don't even get nominated because they forget to file in time for the nomination committee to even look at them as a choice. Also, the companies send tapes of the shows or scenes involving that actor, so a bad choice by them could mean that they will be overlooked even if they are the best of the lot. Everybody Loves Raymond over Desperate Housewives. Desperate Housewives is an hour comedy? Bullshit. It's a drama with comedy elements. Of course Everybody Loves Raymond won. it was the best pure comedy. James Spader is absolutely hilarious in his role. He made the Practice when that show was dying and actually saved the show, resulting in the spinoff for him. Hugh Laurie is awesome, too. That is a tough pick to make, but you really need to watch every show to really made a statement. You can't say someone doesn't deserve something without seeing all the shows, because then what are you making your judgments on; likability or popularity?

Hello - did you just listen to yourself? You just said that Jame Spader was hillarious? He won for best lead in a drama. And no television show these days is only comedy. There are always some serious issues thrown in. Desperate Housewives is tongue-in-cheek humor, but as you said, you would have to watch the show to know that.

But Hugh Laurie and David Spader are the same characters. They take their job seriously and yet use their venomous tongue to lash out at others in a humorous way and in both shows you can sense the drama throughout everything they do, no matter how funny they are, because it is dark humor, more appropriate for the type of drama they are in. As for Desperate Housewives, I did watch that show rather often, because of a certain hot girl in the cast. In fact, the only time I stopped watching was when they brought back Family Guy in May; a show most deserving of best comedy. The show sucks. I could barely remain interested. While even when I can't stand Everybody Loves Raymond, when I watch the show, I still find it entertaining.
