I'm a fan of the original Miracle on 34th Street, both in black and white and in color. Edmund Gwenn was incredible as Santa Claus. He looked so much like him that Natalie Wood was surprised to find out that he was an actor like herself. Natalie Wood was simply adorable. The chemistry between Maureen O'Hara and John Payne was right on the money. The whole film was delightful. I can quote whole scenes word for word. In fact, this film usually starts the holiday for me. I bring it out every year and play it while I'm wrapping my Christmas presents.
In 1994, a new version was made with Richard Attenborough as Kris Kringle. The premise was similar, but much was changed. I can stomach this version, but I really don't get the truly joyous feeling that comes over me every time I watch the 1947 version.
What do you think?

I love this movie and make it part of my holiday tradition every year. On Thanksgiving Day, after everyone leaves with full stomachs. I pop in the movie and write out Christmas cards and enjoy. It really puts me in the holiday mood.
