Each and every week at G-POP.net, we strive to bring you a tremendous variety of entertainment. Here's what's new for this week's issue:
The Shaggy Dog - Melissa Minners reviews the soundtrack to the Disney remake.
Excerpt: "The Shaggy Dog Soundtrack is made up of music from and inspired by the movie. The original score is composed and produced by Alan Menkin, who is no stranger to musical soundtracks having composed works for Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors, Aladdin, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pocahontas, and more. With the exception of the track Tibet, Menkins composition is light and fun, perfectly reflecting the mood of the movie. Tibet is a tad more on the darker, mysterious side..."
X-Men: Pheonix Endsong - Justine Manzano reviews a graphic novel starring Jean Grey as Pheonix.
Excerpt: "If you read my review of X-Men 3: The Last Stand, you know all about how much I loved the entire Phoenix plotline from the comics. I didnt mind the changes they made in the movie, because the story from the comics had the capacity to be so long, detailed and confusing, that I could conceivably see it being an entire trilogy of its own. Phoenix: Endsong is the tale of a possible ending to The Phoenixat least until the next time it rises..."
Raising Kings and Queens Concert to Take Hip Hop Back to Its Roots - Jon Minners reports about the 6th Annual Raising Kings and Queens Concert in the Bronx.
Excerpt: "What once was will be again. Hip Hop, born and raised in the Bronx, is taking the borough by storm once more with every community feeling the vibe. With the 6th Annual Raising Kings and Queens concert the talk of the south Bronx, it is now the talk of the entire Bronx, as the Westchester Square train station, a virtual bridge between the Morris Park and Throggs Neck communities, sports a giant banner advertising what many within the Hip Hop community claim will be the biggest concert of its kind in the Bronx since last years fifth annual extravaganza..."
Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones - Melissa Minners reviews both the book and the DVD of the second Star Wars prequel.
Excerpt: "Having been a long-time fan of all things Star Wars, it should come as no surprise that I not only watch the films, but read the film novelizations, check out the comic books based on the films, and collect all three. When I decided to read the novelization of Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones, I was inspired to watch the movie yet again. This time, however, I was determined to watch every special feature on my DVD version of the film. It took me an entire day to complete it. When I was finished, I decided that it would be nice to share both the DVD and the book version of the film with G-POP.nets viewers, some of which please say it isnt so! have never enjoyed the Star Wars experience. So, travel with me on an adventure that begins a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."
RPG Maker 3 - Ismael Manzano reviews the role playing / creation game for the Playstation 2.
Excerpt: "I came across RPG Maker 3 while doing one of my random game hunts at my local store. I wasnt sure if I wanted to purchase it right away and since it was encased in a glass cabinet, I didnt have the opportunity to study it, but I was intrigued. I promptly went home and did a little research on the game and within minutes, I was purchasing it online, already imagining what I could create once the game arrived..."
The Terminator Trilogy - A Turn Back the Clock look at the Terminator Trilogy by Melissa Minners.
Excerpt: "Ill be back. Who doesnt hear that line and associate it with one of the most popular science fiction films ever created. Those words uttered by Arnold Schwarzenegger are indelibly written in the minds of everyone who has ever seen the movie The Terminator and/or its subsequent sequels. Any science fiction fan can tell you the plot behind the movie series. Most could tell you about the deleted scenes. Some could even tell you about the comic books and novels. Since The Terminator happens to be one of my all-time favorite movies (next to Star Wars), I can probably list all of those things and more, but I have found the most enjoyment in the movies. That being said, lets discuss the trilogy, shall we?..."
Random Acts of Ismael and Badseed's Bottomline are all new:
Random Acts of Ismael: Random Acts III - "Hello again children around the world, its your friendly neighborhood, ranter, coming to you again from an undisclosed location to bring you yet another round of my unique brand of wisdom. For those of you whove read the previous two Acts, you know what to expect, so Ill just jump right in: Curling is not a sport. I dont care what lies they fed you, but curling is not a sport. It started as a way of making the janitors who swept the ice feel important by throwing a puck and a measuring stick at them. Seriously, what do you get if you win at curling, a gold/silver/bronze broomstick?..."
Badseed's Bottomline #383: Random Notes - "Hey yo! Wrestling was interesting to say the least this week. Not all good, but some things definitely caught my eye. Lets take a second to discuss these amongst ourselves..."
