Coming outside our entertainment mode for a moment, we would like to offer condolences to the families of the victims of 9/11/01. The victims of the tragedies that took place on that day will have a special place in our hearts and minds forever.

Each and every week at G-POP.net, we strive to bring you a tremendous variety of entertainment. Here's what's new for this week's issue:
First Impressions: Standoff - In this new series of articles, G-POP discusses their first impressions of the new television season's series offerings. This week, Ismael Manzano takes a look at FOX's new series Standoff.
Excerpt: "Welcome to First Impressions, a new series of articles in which we will discuss the new series of the fall season as they air their first episodes. They may be right, they may be wrong, but it's the new fall season based on our very first thoughts. First this season, Standoff, the new Fox Tuesday night drama. Standoff stars Ron Livingston (Office Space, Sex and the City) and Rosemarie DeWitt (Cinderella Man), as FBI negotiators, Matt Flannery and Emily Lehman. The show opens up with a hostage negotiation in progress in which Flannery, in an effort to stall a disgruntled actor from shooting his kids, confesses to a relationship between him and his partner..."
The Faculty - Melissa Minners reviews the DVD version of the sci-fi / horror film from Dimension Films, starring Elijah Wood, Josh Hartnett, Shown Hatosy, Robert Patrick, Famke Janssen, and more.
Excerpt: "Let's take a trip back to our high school days, shall we? Back in high school, who didn't think some of their teachers were alien life forms? You know the type – the teacher who always wore the same outfits, day after day after day. Or what about the teacher with the excessive amounts of make-up, sheaths for dresses, and a penchant for adding drama to everything she did? Every one around us belonged to some sort of clique…whether they wanted to or not. There were the geeks, the jocks, the popular ones, the juvenile delinquents, the just plain weird ones…you name it, there was a clique for it. The movie, The Faculty, addresses all of these issues in one amusing horror flick..."
Forgotten Sol - Jon Minners reviews the band Forgotten Soul's new neo-soul album, Contradiction.
Excerpt: "I am a firm believer that Myspace is going to change the world. Forget about all the negative hype you hear on the news. They are just looking for controversial stories and often ignore the positives that sometimes go along with it. I know…I'm a hard news journalist. It's what we do. Thank God for my side gig. For every bad thing you can say about Myspace, there are 100 positive things to add. Myspace is changing the way we listen to music and it is finally opening up our world to great songs by wonderful artists, who for whatever reason can't crack the Clear Channel monopolized market. I discovered Forgotten Sol through Myspace. You can check out their page at www.myspace.com/ForgottenSol. While turning the dial on my radio, I don't hear the blues; I don't hear much Jazz; I don't get much soul on my radio. So, it is very important to look for it and if you look hard enough you will find it. And that is how I found this treasure..."
Wrath of the Ninja: Collector's Series - Jon Minners reviews the Collector's Series edition DVD set of the 1990's anime favorite.
Excerpt: "Back when anime first hit the U.S. hard, Wrath of the Ninja was a heavily touted title. It was the mid-90's and all casual anime fans, like myself, knew, in addition to the usual Dragon Ball Z fare, was Vampire Hunter D, Street Fighter, Fist of the Northstar, Ninja Scroll and Wrath of the Ninja. In fact, if you loved Ninja Scroll, you definitely needed to whet your ninja appetite and Wrath of the Ninja was the perfect title to enjoy. This DVD set includes the film everyone knows about, but also includes the mini-series of which the film is based. The mini-series was never released on DVD. I will get into the mini-series and its strong virtues later. Both share the same story..."
The Triangle - Melissa Minners reviews the soundtrack of the Sci-Fi Channel / BBC mini-series.
Excerpt: "In December of 2005, a six-hour mini-series, created and produced by Bryan Singer and Dean Devlin, aired on the SCI FI Channel and the BBC. The mini-series was called The Triangle and contained an ensemble cast – Sam Neill, Bruce Davison, Catherine Bell, Michael Rodgers, Eric Stoltz, and Lou Diamond Phillips...The tale of mystery, action and adventure aired a second time on SCI FI in March 2006. The soundtrack of The Triangle was composed by Joseph Loduca, who is well-known for his work on such projects as Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, American Gothic, Librarian: Quest for the Spear, Boogeyman, and more..."
Class Act: Strangers on a Train - In this installment of the Class Act series, Justine Manzano discusses the movie thriller from Alfred Hitchcock.
Excerpt: "Sometimes, I find, we are so busy with the day to day of our lives that we never get the chance to enjoy some of the good things we weren't there for. For instance, I am far too young to have ever watched an Alfred Hitchcock movie upon it's initial release. After that, who has time to play catch up and try to find everything you have missed? There is so much great material to wade through, trying can be daunting. That's the beautiful thing about film class. It's a guided tour through wonderfully made films that have made an impact on the industry. This time, Film 101 led me to one of Hitchcock's timeless greats, Strangers On A Train..."
Minners Commentary Corner and Badseed's Bottomline are all new:
Minners Commentary Corner: Just Messing Around - "I am sitting here on my toilet, as I usually do, thinking of a new commentary corner for this week's edition of G-Pop. It's kind of hard to think. I am lactose intolerant, which among the fact that I can't tie a tie, are among a number of other difficulties I must face on a daily basis. I just had an awesome peanut butter sundae from Baskin Robbins and damn, my stomach hurts..."
Badseed's Bottomline #388: Chris Jericho Can Save Smackdown - "Hey yo! So, I was watching Celebrity Duets the other night just to see Chris Jericho perform and it dawned on me, Y2J so needs to come back to wrestling..."
