CNN’s 1968 (Los Angeles, CA – May 22, 2018) 1968, a four-part CNN Original Series Event debuts Sunday, May 27, at 9 P.M. ET, and features music from composer Nathaniel Blume (THE FLASH, THE 2000’s). Watch the amazing series that chronicles one of the most important years in the history of America. “1968 sets out to capture the mood and environment of our country during that particularly dark year” said Composer Nathaniel Blume, when talking about this emotionally riveting and historical project. “Since the series tells its story through interviews and archival footage without the use of a central voiceover, the score plays a large part in reflecting that dark mood while providing a consistent narrative tone across the compiled visuals. We wanted this music to have its own identity." From Emmy Award-winning executive producers Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog comes a CNN Original Series Event, 1968. Airing over two nights — Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28 between 9 p.m.–11:00 p.m. ET– the four-part docuseries goes back 50 years to explore 1968, a year marked by seismic shifts in American politics, social movements, global relations and cultural icons that changed the modern landscape. Using never-before-seen archival footage and contemporary interviews with journalists, historians, and notable figures, the series maps the tumultuous events of the entire year, from the assassinations of MLK and RFK to escalating anti-Vietnam War sentiment and civil rights struggles. “The show runner, Dave Rivera, supported the creation of longer musical ideas to tie multiple scenes together and to allow for more in depth development,” Blume continued. “The theme for Nixon is presented one way when he’s successfully campaigning his ‘Silent Center’ slogan, and yet another way when he’s attacking President Johnson nearing the election. The intent is for that development to come across, if not overtly, at least subliminally in the viewing experience.” With perception and drive to create the best that film composition has to offer, Nathaniel Blume is one of the most dynamic composers working on screen today. Nathaniel’s talent for crafting memorable musical interplays can be heard on hundreds of episodes in series ranging from The Flash (CW) to Deception (ABC). Nathaniel is steadfastly dedicated to illuminating every narrative’s pivotal themes, and he is fast becoming one of the standout voices of the new generation of television and film composers. In addition to his ongoing television projects, Nathaniel has broad experience scoring short and feature films, including the animated feature Vixen: The Movie. He has composed extensively for CNN, providing the music of 1968: The Year That Changed America as well as each of the ‘decades series’, including the upcominig aired The 2000’s and fan favorites The Sixties, The Seventies and The Eighties. Nathaniel has also written seasons of additional music on many television programs such as Arrow (CW), Resurrection and PanAm (ABC). Previously, Nathaniel composed the score for the documentary Shakespeare High, which was an official selection at the Tribeca Film Festival. 1968, Four-Part CNN Original Series Event Debuts Sunday, May 27, at 9 P.M. ET and features music from composer Nathaniel Blume (THE FLASH, THE 2000’s).

HOTEL ARTEMIS
(May 29, 2018 – Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the HOTEL ARTEMIS - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on June 8, 2018 and on CD shortly thereafter. The album contains additional original music by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, composer Cliff Martinez (DRIVE, GAME NIGHT). The film re-teams Martinez with DRIVE producer Adam Siegel.
“I love being asked to get the band back together again. Especially when the band is the team that released one of my career defining scores - Drive.,” said Martinez. “Am glad to have gotten the call from Adam Siegel for Hotel Artemis and that Lakeshore will be releasing the soundtrack. And we’ve struck creative gold again with Hotel Artemis. For best results, sit motionless between two speakers for the entire duration of the recording and bask in the uplifting and explulsive electronic mayhem.”
Perhaps it is because of his time in the punk scene as a drummer for bands including the Weirdos, Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Dickies that Cliff Martinez’s approach to scoring is nontraditional. His scores tend towards being stark and sparse, utilizing a modern tonal palette to paint the backdrop for films that are often dark, psychological stories like Pump Up the Volume (1990) , The Limey (2009) Wonderland (2003) , Wicker Park (2004) , and Drive (2011) . Martinez has been nominated for a Grammy Award (Steven Soderbergh’s Traffic), a Cesar Award (Xavier Giannoli’s A L’origine), and a Broadcast Film Critics Award ( Drive). His score for The Neon Demon was awarded Best Soundtrack at the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival.
Still the drummer at heart, Martinez’s use of audio manipulations, particularly for percussive sounds, has been evolving through the years and is evident by the hammered dulcimer of Kafka (1991), the gray-areas between sound design and score for Traffic (2000), the steel drums and textures of Solaris (2002), what Martinez called ‘rhythmi-tizing pitched, ambient textures’ of Narc (2002), and ‘using percussion performances to trigger and shape the rhythmic and tonal characteristics of those ambient textures,’ as he described his score for 2011’s The Lincoln Lawyer. Martinez’s longstanding relationship with director Steven Soderbergh began with 1989’s sex, lies, and videotape and has produced ten theatrical film releases, including Kafka, The Limey, Traffic, Solaris, and Contagion, and the critically acclaimed TV series The Knick.
Martinez’s films also include Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon and Only God Forgives, Robert Redford’s The Company You Keep, Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers (co-composed with Skrillex), and Martin Campbell’s The Foreigner, the Warner Bros. film Game Night and his upcoming projects include Too Old To Die Young – Refn’s new series for Amazon. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2012 with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He earned the prestigious Richard Kirk Lifetime Achievement award from BMI in 2013.
Set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, HOTEL ARTEMIS is an original, high-octane action-thriller starring Jodie Foster as The Nurse, who runs a secret, members-only hospital for criminals. Jodie Foster is joined by an all-star cast that includes Sterling K. Brown, Sofia Boutella, Jeff Goldblum, Bryan Tyree Henry, Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Day, and Dave Bautista.
Global Road Entertainment presents HOTEL ARTEMIS, in theaters nationwide on June 8, 2018. Lakeshore Records will release the HOTEL ARTEMIS - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on June 8, 2018 and on CD shortly thereafter.

GODLESS
[June 12, 2018 – Los Angeles, CA] BMG presents the GODLESS – Original Netflix Limited Series Soundtrack to be released digitally on July 6, 2018. The album features original music by composer Carlos Rafael Rivera (A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES). Grammy award- winner T Bone Burnett served as the executive music producer. GODLESS is the second collaboration between composer Rivera and Executive Producer/Writer/Director Scott Frank. “We’ve found an unusual approach in which he’ll send me the screenplay, early on during pre-production, and I will begin scoring the written word, not picture,” explained Rivera. “We call these ‘script movies,’ because I make a QuickTime of the screenplay, and start scoring it. What’s really cool about this is that it helps us realize what doesn’t work, while helping set the tone of the storytelling.” In GODLESS, notorious criminal Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels) and his gang of outlaws are on a mission of revenge against Roy Goode (Jack O’Connell), a son-like protégé who betrayed the brotherhood. While on the run, Roy seeks refuge with hardened widower Alice Fletcher (Michelle Dockery), an outcast herself, in a worn-down, isolated mining town of La Belle, NM -- governed mainly by women. When word reaches La Belle that Griffin is headed their way, the town bands together to defend against the murderous gang in a lawless western frontier. Steven Soderbergh and Casey Silver executive produced the series alongside Frank. To prepare to score GODLESS, Rivera first turned to classic western scores, but quickly realized though that some elements of the traditional western would not work for this series. “Instruments like the harmonica had too much baggage and quickly became cliché,” he said. The main essence of the score became classical guitar (performed by Rivera) with cello (performed by Joy Adams). “I also used an organ and harmonium to set tone. This intimate setting was the core for most of the writing, and served as contrast when orchestral forces were required.” The two core pieces in essence bookend the story - the main titles and the final scene where the story is resolved. “When it came time to writing a main theme for GODLESS, we tried to find a singable melody, something that we could carry with us and would help encapsulate the story. Having the legendary T Bone Burnett as Executive Music Producer, as well as mix the Main Theme, influenced and inspired my approach to scoring the story,” said Rivera. “Getting to write a theme for Michelle Dockery’s Alice Fletcher was awesome. We wanted the heart of this theme to complement her character’s enduring strength. I am most grateful that showrunner Scott Frank put so much trust in the score, having allowed it to carry the final scene for GODLESS, and help finish telling his story.” GODLESS is available currently on Netflix streaming devices. BMG presents the GODLESS – Original Netflix Limited Series Soundtrack to be digitally released on July 6, 2018. ABOUT CARLOS RAFAEL RIVERA Carlos Rafael Rivera is a commissioned and award winning composer whose career has spanned several genres of the music industry. His work for film and television includes scores for Netflix’ GODLESS, directed by Scott Frank and produced by Steven Soderbergh, starring Jeff Daniels and Michelle Dockery, as well as Universal Pictures’ A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES, starring Liam Neeson. A protégé of Randy Newman, he earned a DMA in Composition at USC’s Thornton School, where he studied with Donald Crockett and Stephen Hartke. As a guitarist, he has performed onstage as opening act for The Who at the Hollywood Bowl; recorded studio sessions for Island/Def Jam, and Universal Records; and had songs on feature soundtracks (Crash, Dragonfly), as well as ABC’s Scrubs, MTV, and VH-1. His work for the performing arts has been featured by Arturo Sandoval, Chanticleer, Cavatina Duo, and the Chicago Sinfonietta; commissioned by the Simon Bolivar Youth Symphony and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet; recorded by Varêse-Sarabande, Warner, and Cedille labels; and awarded by the Herb Alpert Foundation, BMI, and twice by ASCAP. He is a voting member of the Television Academy (EMMY’s), the Recording Academy (GRAMMY’s), the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), and is a sought out guest composer and lecturer throughout the Americas. Carlos is Assistant Professor and Director of the Musicianship, Artistry Development, & Entrepreneurship (MADE) as well as the Media Writing and Production Programs at the acclaimed Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.

SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO (June 20, 2018 – Los Angeles, CA) – Music.Film Recordings and Varèse Sarabande will release the SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and on CD June 29, 2018 and on LP on August 31. The album features original score composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir (MARY MAGDALENE, Chernobyl). The late Jóhann Jóhannsson received an Oscar nomination for the music he wrote for Sicario (also available via Varèse Sarabande). Guðnadóttir had collaborated with Jóhannsson on SICARIO and many projects over the years. “Jóhann and I worked together very closely on almost every single project we both did for about 15 years,” she said. “He passed away so recently, so I have not really digested that he is no longer here. But I don´t feel like I have picked up a baton, I am simply carrying on with the work that we were already doing. That feels both natural and very surreal, for lack of better words or digestion.” With SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO, the series begins a new chapter. In the drug war, there are no rules – and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) calls on the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways. Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin’s daughter to inflame the conflict – but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for. Directed by Stefano Sollima. Written by Taylor Sheridan. Based on Characters Created by Taylor Sheridan. Produced by Basil Iwanyk, Edward L. McDonnell, Molly Smith, Thad Luckinbill, and Trent Luckinbill. “I think SOLDADO is more emotional than the previous film, and the score follows that direction. This one is a bit more of a ‘classical’ score, with musical themes that follow certain emotional landscapes. That is something that was important to Stefano [Sollima, director],” Guðnadóttir explained that SOLDADO has “a bit of a different feel as a score because the function of it is different. That is also a direction that was important to Stefano. He was also very vocal about the fact that he did not want to recreate the SICARIO soundtrack, so he often wanted to go in very different directions from SICARIO.” Hildur Guðnadóttir is an Icelandic cello player, composer and singer who has manifested herself at the forefront of experimental pop and contemporary music (e.g. with the band Múm). In her solo works she draws out a broad spectrum of sounds from her instrument, ranging from intimate simplicity to huge soundscapes. Her career as a film composer is soaring, having just signed on to score HBO’s limited series, Chernobyl, after recently completing the highly anticipated sequel, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, set to release summer 2018. Hildur’s film, Mary Magdalene, directed by Garth Davis (Australian nominated director for Lion) stars Joachem Phoenix and Rooney Mara, embodies an awesome soundtrack currently in release by Universal Music and will see a late fall US domestic release. Her Nordic film, Tom of Finland, premiered at Tribeca this year, her score to The Oath garnered a Best Nordic Composer nomination and her score to Journey’s End awarded her the Best Music Award at this year’s Beijing International Film Festival. In addition to scoring, Hildur has performed in a number of film scores such as The Revenant (2015), Sicario (2015) and Arrival (2016). Among others Hildur has performed live and recorded music with Skúli Sverrisson, Jóhann Jóhannsson, múm, Sunn O))), Angel, Pan Sonic, Hauschka, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Sylvian, The Knife, Fever Ray and Throbbing Gristle. Gudnadóttir began playing cello as a child, entered the Reykjavík Music Academy and then moved on to musical studies/composition and new media at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and Universitat der Kunste in Berlin. Hildur has released four critically acclaimed solo albums: Mount A (2006), Without Sinking (2009), Leyfðu Ljósinu (2012) and Saman (2014). Her records have been nominated a number of times for the Icelandic Music Awards. Without Sinking was chosen as one of the albums of the year at the Kraumur Awards. Hildur’s albums are all released on Touch. Hildur has composed music for theatre, dance performances and films. The Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, Icelandic National Theatre, Tate Modern, The British Film Institute, The Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm and Gothenburg National Theatre are amongst the institutions that have commissioned new works by Hildur. She won Gríman (The Icelandic Theatre Award) in 2011, for her music for King Lear. And 2012 she was nominated for the Robert Prize (Danish Film Award) for her original score for A Hijacking. She was nominated for the Nordic Music Council Prize as composer of the year 2014. "Guðnadóttir takes a cello and gentle voice and, through software manipulation, scales simple phrases up to celestial heights" - The Wire: Adventures in Modern Music. Sony Pictures presents SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO in theaters on June 29, 2018. Varèse Sarabande will release the SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and on CD June 29 and on LP August 31, 2018.

SHOCK AND AWE (July 13, 2018 – Los Angeles, CA) – Today Music.Film Recordings and Varèse Sarabande releases the SHOCK AND AWE – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and on CD July 13, 2018. The album features original score composed by Emmy Award Winner Jeff Beal ( AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL: TRUTH TO POWER , HOUSE OF CARDS). “Legendary director Rob Reiner used archival footage of George W. Bush, Colin Powell, and Donald Rumsfeld, to chilling effect, much like Oliver Stone did in JFK,” said Beal, who was greatly influenced by John Williams’ work on the aforementioned JFK. “I imagine that Shock and Awe is a bit of homage to his work; orchestral, harmonically complex, and using the tropes of ‘patriotic music’ trumpet, brass, drums, but with a sense of loss, gravitas and ache.” In 2003, the White House administration made a case for the invasion of Iraq. The facts didn’t add up, and only one team of journalists got the story right. Shock and Awe is the true story of these journalists, and what it is like to hunt for the truth when the stakes are life, death, and American democracy. “Our film celebrates the real life journalists heroes who were striving to debunk the false information of Saddam’s ‘weapons of mass destruction’ used to justify the 2003 Iraq War, in the wake of 9/11,” Beal described. “Even though our film is essentially a docudrama, it also plays very much like a political thriller ala All The President’s Men and I wanted to write a visceral, suspenseful, and emotionally invested score.” Given the strained relationship between the press and politicians the past few years, the message of the film became very timely. “Rob started making Shock AND Awe before the 2016 presidential election, By the time we were in post, Trump had won the presidency, and we all felt the message of the film was even more important and relevant, given the current debates about ‘fake news’ and objective facts. A five-time EMMY® winner, Beal’s approach is a favorite for more sophisticated works. His TV credits include HBO’s ROME, CARNIVÀLE and the Netflix series HOUSE OF CARDS. His documentary work includes BLACKFISH, WEINER, THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES, AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL: TRUTH TO POWER, Oliver Stone’s THE PUTIN INTERVIEWS, and BOSTON the recently released documentary about the history of the Boston Marathon. Jeff’s upcoming projects include the documentaries THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING (directed by Nathaniel Kahn) and GENERATION WEALTH (directed by Lauren Greenfield), and the upcoming series GRAND HOTEL on ABC. Recently, Jeff’s performing, conducting, and composing worlds have begun converging. He conducted The National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in the premiere of HOUSE OF CARDS IN CONCERT (represented by Columbia Artists Management), with further performances in Miami, The Netherlands, and Denmark. He also led the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra for the premiere of BLACKFISH live-to-picture and conducted the Boston Pops Orchestra live for the premiere of BOSTON. In May several of his pieces were performed including “The Salvage Men” by The Apollo Chorus (Chicago), the Brooklyn Youth Chorus premiering his piece “The Fire Brand” at BAM, and Oregon Ballet Theatre premiering the ballet Terra, choreographed by Helen Pickett. Castle Rock Entertainment, Vertical Entertainment, DirecTV Cinema present SHOCK AND AWE, currently viewable via DirecTV and opening in theaters on July 13, 2018. Music.Film Recordings and Varèse Sarabande are releasing the SHOCK AND AWE – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally and on CD July 13, 2018.

THE MEG : ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
(August 3, 2018 – Los Angeles, CA) WaterTower Music has announced today’s release of the soundtrack to the science fiction action thriller “The Meg,” directed by Jon Turteltaub (the “National Treasure” movies), which will be released in theaters August 10, 2018. The soundtrack features music from the film composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (“The Town,” the “Equalizer” films, the “Shrek” franchise), and will be released on August 3rd, one week before the film is in theaters.
Harry Gregson-Williams is one of Hollywood’s most sought-after composers, whose scores span the spectrum of high-profile projects from action to drama to animation – each infused with the emotional punch and atmospheric intensity that mark his distinctive musical style. The Golden Globe- and Grammy Award-nominated composer offers, “For ‘The Meg,’ I set out to create a memorable recognizable sonic motif which follows the mystery of the great Megalodon—something robust in nature, which acted as a kind of warning call and instilled an immediate sense of fear and suspense when signaled. In search of this sound, I stumbled upon the conch as an instrument of musical focus. Its call was both distinctive and ancient, and I felt it offered a voice to the vast terror of a concealed underwater world.
“Working with Jon Turteltaub has been one of the most enjoyable collaborative experiences I’ve ever had the pleasure of being a part of,” Gregson-Williams continued. “He would arrive at my studio bringing with him the unbridled optimism and unique humor that only Jon possesses. He regularly took the time to remind me that the film should always feel fun, exciting, and anticipatory, and encouraged me to direct that positive energy into the music at each step of the process. In the end, I hope I was able to achieve an edge-of-your-seat score that helps the audience to immerse themselves in this dynamic feature film that Jon so masterfully created.”
Harry Gregson-Williams’ soundtrack to “The Meg” is now available.

CRAZY RICH ASIANS (AUGUST 8, 2018 – LOS ANGELES, CA) WaterTower Music is pleased to announce the August 10 release of two albums of music from director Jon M. Chu’s film “Crazy Rich Asians,” a contemporary romantic comedy based on the acclaimed worldwide bestseller by Kevin Kwan, that will be in theaters Wednesday, August 15. One album will be comprised of songs from the film, and the second album will feature composer Brian Tyler’s spirited score. The 14 song Crazy Rich Asians: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album features several new recordings made for the film, including Miguel’s song “Vote,” recorded for the end title sequence; and covers of the classics “Money (That’s What I Want)” by Cheryl K Feat. That kind of musicianship on hand combined with such a wide sonic palette enabled me to represent both the sophistication of the crazy rich characters in the film as well as the deep emotional resonance of the central love story,” continued the composer. “The jazz music provided a fun wild throwback tone and the strings brought the main themes to life in a way that articulates both the love and loss in relationships - familial and romantic. This movie makes you laugh and it makes you cry. I adore this film and Jon Chu’s brilliant direction and am so proud of what we made together. Gary has performed his electronic music live, as he did with Electronic Music luminaries Richard Devine, Alessandro Cortini and others at the REDCAT Theater in the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, in 2007. OPERATION FINALE (August 24 – New York, NY) – Sony Classical releases OPERATION FINALE (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) with original music by Academy Award® winner Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel). The soundtrack will be available for streaming, download and on CD August 24, 2018. Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures (MGM) will distribute Operation Finale theatrically on August 29, 2018. MGM’s razor-sharp thriller, Operation Finale, brings to life one of the most daring covert operations in modern history. Starring Golden Globe® winner Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Ex Machina) and Academy Award® winner Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Schindler’s List), and the film vividly captures the ingenious and brilliantly executed mission to capture Adolf Eichmann, one of the chief architects of the Holocaust. Fifteen years after the end of World War II, acting on irrefutable evidence, a top-secret team of Israeli agents travel to Argentina where Eichmann (Kingsley) has been in hiding together with his family under the alias “Ricardo Klement” and execute an extremely dangerous abduction. In attempting to sneak him out of Argentina to stand trial in Israel while being pursued by the country’s right-wing forces, agent Peter Malkin (Isaac) is forced to engage Eichmann in an intense and gripping game of cat-and-mouse with life-and-death stakes. Operation Finale is directed by Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Twilight Saga: New Moon) from a screenplay by Matthew Orton. Oscar Isaac is also a producer, along with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger under their Automatik company and Jason Spire’s Inspire Entertainment. Alexandre Desplat says about the soundtrack: “Writing a score for the abduction of Adolf Eichmann has been a tremendous challenge. Chris and I tried to bring the audience into the mind of the Mossad squad, struggling to succeed in one of the most famous chases of a Nazi official; a criminal with no regrets or remorse whatsoever, hidden in Argentina. Organizing the train transports of Jews throughout Europe and supervising their systematic killings in villages or forests were some of Eichmann’s tasks. The music I composed tries to modestly capture these elements of tragedy and madness. A group of 10 percussionists leads the London Symphony Orchestra into a Mephistophelian dance.” ABOUT ALEXANDRE DESPLAT Composer, orchestrator and conductor Alexandre Desplat is a two-time Academy Award® winner, nine-time Academy Award® Nominee, with over hundred scores and numerous awards to his credit and is one of the most worthy heirs of the French film scoring masters. A true cinephile, his approach to film composition is not only based on his strong musicality but also on his understanding of film which allows him to intimately communicate with directors. Inspired by the works of Maurice Jarre, Bernard Herrmann, Nino Rota or Georges Delerue, he expressed his desire to compose for film early on but really made his decision after listening to John Williams’ score to Star Wars. After scoring 50 European films, with legendary French directors such as Philippe de Broca and Francis Girod, he burst in 2003 onto the Hollywood scene with his evocative score to Peter Webber’s Girl With A Pearl Earring earning him nominations at the Golden Globe Awards®, BAFTAs and European Film Awards. His singular and remarkable scores for the films of Jacques Audiard showed a new musical voice and his composition for The Beat That My Heart Skipped in 2005 earned him the Silver Bear at the Berlinale as well as his first César. Alexandre Desplat then started to expand his U.S. career keeping his European collaborations. In 2007 he received his first Academy Award® nomination for Stephen Frears’ The Queen which earned him his first European Film Award. The same year he won the Golden Globe, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award and the World Soundtrack Award for his score to John Curran’s The Painted Veil, performed by Lang Lang. He composed in 2008 for Florent Siri’s Intimate Enemy, Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution, and David Fincher’s The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, which earned him a second Oscar nomination and a fourth BAFTA and Golden Globe® nomination. With his score for Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer in 2010, starting an inspiring relationship, he won a second César and a second European Film Award. The same year, he wrote the music for Twilight-New Moon by Chris Weitz, a platinum record, Anne Fontaine’s Coco Before Chanel and for Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech for which he won the BAFTA, the Grammy Award and receives his fourth Academy Award® nomination and his fifth Golden Globe® nomination. In 2010-2011 Alexandre Desplat scored David Yates’ films Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 1 and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Part 2, which became the third most successful movie of all time. As eclectic as prolific, he wrote nine scores in 2011 including Terence Malik’s Tree Of Life, Roman Polanski’s Carnage, Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, Daniel Auteuil’s The Wells Digger’s Daughter and George Clooney’s The Ides of March. In 2012, keeping his artistic exchange with European directors, Alexandre Desplat collaborated with Kathryn Bigelow for Zero Dark Thirty, Matteo Garrone for Reality, Gilles Bourdos for Renoir, Jérôme Salle for Zulu, Wes Anderson for Moonrise Kingdom and Jacques Audiard for Rust And Bone, the latter of which he won a third César. He also scored Argo by Ben Affleck, which was awarded the Oscar for best film and earned Alexandre Desplat a sixth nomination at BAFTA, as well as a fifth nomination at the Golden Globes® and the Academy Awards®. In 2013 he scored George Clooney’s The Monuments Men, Roman Polanski’s Venus In Fur and Stephen Frears’ Philomena, for which he received his seventh BAFTA and his fifth Oscar nominations. In 2014, he scored Gareth Edwards’s blockbuster Godzilla and received a rare double Academy Award® nomination for his scores of Morten Tyldum’s The Imitation Game and Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, which earned him a BAFTA, a Grammy Award® and his first Academy Award win.
